El edificio del Empire State cuenta con un total de 102 plantas y su ESTILO corresponde al movimiento Art Deco. Fue diseñado por Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates y construido en 1930.
Su nombre, Empire State (Estado del Imperio) le viene de New York State (Estado de Nueva York).
La American Society de Ingeniería Civil declaró el edificio como una de las siete maravillas modernas del mundo y también pertenece al World Federation of Great Towers (Federación Mundial de rascacielos).
