W Sound 09 presents a contemporary reinterpretation of a global classic with a collaboration featuring J Balvin, Ovy On The Drums, and Westcol
MIAMI, FL –
W Sound unveils its ninth installment, “GODZILA,” bringing together three of Colombia’s most influential voices in music and entertainment: J Balvin, Ovy On The Drums, and Westcol.
The release arrives as another major moment for the W Sound franchise, built around a reimagining of one of dance music’s most recognizable records, “I Like to Move It.” Originally released in 1993 by Reel 2 Real and The Mad Stuntman, the song was produced by Erick Morillo, the Colombian-American DJ and producer whose childhood in Cartagena helped shape a sound that would leave a lasting impact on dance music around the world.
More than thirty years later, that connection comes full circle. With “GODZILA,” a new generation of Colombian artists revisits a record that has long linked Latin culture with global dance floors, transforming it into a contemporary anthem for today’s audience.
Few songs have maintained the cultural reach of “I Like to Move It.” First embraced as a worldwide club hit, the record later found new audiences through the Madagascar film franchise and continues to resonate across social media and popular culture. “GODZILA” taps into that familiarity while giving the record a fresh identity through the creative vision of Balvin, Ovy On The Drums, and Westcol.
The song’s title also carries personal meaning for J Balvin, inspired by the connection his son developed with the track and the nickname that naturally became part of their family dynamic.
Driven by the chemistry of three of Colombia’s most influential cultural figures, “GODZILA” highlights the continued global impact of Colombian talent while bridging generations through a record that has remained part of popular culture for more than three decades.
“GODZILA” is available now on all digital streaming platforms.
