But This Time, He Performed At The Direct Request Of This Year’s Nobel Peace Prize Honoree, And To Celebrate A Historic Peace Process In His Own Country

On Sunday evening, December 11th, Latin music superstar Juanes appeared at the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway for a third time. As a longtime supporter for global peace efforts, it is always a special honor to perform at the event, but this time was surely and extra special career highlight for the Colombian rock star, as he was performing to celebrate this year’s Peace prize recognition of Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, and «All The People of Colombia.»
Upon the announcement of this year’s concert participants, which also included host Conan O’Brien, Sting, Halsey and more, Juanes shared his excitement:
«Advocating that all people have a right to live in peace has long been a cornerstone of my music and the work of our foundation, so I’ve been flattered to participate in past Nobel concerts recognizing global leaders pursuing peace across our world. With this year’s award recognizing the efforts of President Santos to bring a lasting peace to my own nation, I am beyond honored to be asked to perform at the ceremony once again this year.»
Sunday night upon the stage in Oslo, Juanes spoke further for the 50 Million Colombians who have dreamed of a lasting peace for their country:
«This is a very important night for me. It’s the third time I’m here at the Nobel Prize, but tonight is special because it’s about Colombia and I want to congratulate president Juan Manuel Santos and all his team because for many of us this is like a dream, we know that the future is very difficult but this is the opportunity for us as Colombians to build the peace we deserve. Thank you president Santos».
In Another Special Appearance The Previous Weekend, Juanes Was Asked To Perform «Hotel California» At The Kennedy Center Honors In Tribute To The Eagles.
Making his second appearance at the famed Kennedy Center Honors, Juanes performed «Hotel California» (one of the most iconic American Rock Songs of all-time) in recognition of KCH honorees THE EAGLES. The event’s closing segment of the night was introduced by Ringo Starr, and began with performances by Kings of Leon, Bob Seger, and Vince Gil. Following Juanes stirring rendition of «Hotel California»- with additional guitar support from Steve Vai and Steuart Smith, the previous performers returned to the stage with Juanes for a show-closing grand finale of «Life in the Fast Lane.» Tune-In to see the Kennedy Center Honors broadcast Dec. 27 on CBS.
