In honoring the life and legacy of the iconic Cuban Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz, the Kcull Life Foundation teamed up with Miami-based artist Miss Lushy to reveal a celebratory mural full of vibrant colors and ¡Azucar! The mural showcases the late singer in her finest moments, belting out one of her famous songs as she overlooks her star on the Calle Ocho’s Famous Walk of Fame, located in the historical area of Little Havana, Florida.
Celia Cruz’s mural is the first art piece in the Calle Ocho Latin Music & Art Series Project, a cultural art movement in beautifying and reviving multicultural communities back to their vibrancy by featuring Latin culture’s most influential musicians and figures. The Calle Ocho neighborhood is an iconic preservation enclave of authentic Cuban music, food, and lifestyle that are too colorful for words. Beautification is a key to community development and can be an interactive way to bring people together through visual improvements.
The Celia Cruz mural is sponsored by the Celia Cruz Legacy Project, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) / Art of Black Miami, Bacardi, and supported by The City of Miami.
The Celia Cruz mural reveal will be on Saturday, April 24th, 2021, from
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with a red carpet ribbon-cutting ceremony including Commissioner Joe Carollo and celebrity guests, followed by live entertainment performances by Cuban Percussionists, Salsa Dancers, and Cigar Rollers. Enjoy drink samples at our Bacardi Rum Bar offering specialty Mojitos and Rum.
