Microsoft Copilot Debuts New Native-Spanish Voices

Microsoft is bringing AI even closer to into the inner circle of support for modern-day mamás. Copilot, Microsoft’s AI companion, now features two native Spanish-speaking voices, Elm and Alder, offering moms (and all users) even more culturally authentic ways to connect with AI.

The debut of the voices comes fresh on the heels of Abuela-Approved AI, which explores the intersection of AI technology and motherhood. In fact, the results from a recent Microsoft survey underscore the growing role of AI in the lives of Latina moms.

Latina moms recognize the power of AI – 56% of Latina moms say AI has become “the newest member of their parenting village they never knew they needed.”
AI helps Latina moms preserve and pass on culture to their children – 86% cited family recipes, culturally relevant moments, or preservation of native language as areas where AI can serve as a cultural connector.
AI is emerging as a source of emotional support for Latina moms – 38% are turning to AI for parental guidance. Some of the ways they’re using AI in this way include: convenience (24/7 availability), non-judgmental support, stress management, and asking sensitive questions without judgment.

For Latina moms that are turning to AI to help preserve and pass on culture to their children, native Spanish voices make interactions feel more natural and personal – like talking to a trusted friend. Whether speaking Spanish, English, or both, users can now experience Copilot in a voice that reflects their culture and rhythms of conversation.

With Mother’s Day approaching, Copilot isn’t just a gift. It’s a new and unexpected kind of support system—one that speaks mom’s language, literally and figuratively. It can help with gift ideas, personalized plans, and thoughtful suggestions — making it a meaningful (and practical) companion to introduce to mamá this year. For example, you can ask Copilot:

• “Find me a last-minute Mother’s Day gift that feels thoughtful but ships fast.”
• “Plan a weekend trip with kid-friendly activities and some me-time.”
• “What can I make for dinner in 30 minutes with what I have at home?”
• “Help me write a sweet Mother’s Day message for the family WhatsApp group.”
• “Give me five affirmations to get through a chaotic Monday.”
