BOCA RATON, FL
Miami Grill, the iconic fast-casual restaurant brand with a nostalgic south Florida vibe that’s been serving a menu as diverse as Miami itself for 40-plus years, announces the debut of the first cup from its newest limited-edition Wynwood Artist Cup Collection and featuring art by Grabster. Three additional cups will be released in the coming months. Created in honor of the sixth annual Wynwood Mural Fest, each of the four cups in the set boasts an exclusive design created by a rising star on the street art scene.
Miami Grill has been a long-time sponsor of Wynwood Mural Fest, a celebration of street art, graffiti and independent culture coinciding with the internationally renowned Art Basel Miami Beach. It is organized by a collective of artists, organizers, content creators, sponsors and partners who share a passionate belief in the power of public art.
The collection was designed by four highly regarded artists: Grabster, from Brazil; Didi, born in Peru; Florida native Ripes; and Sicilian artist Claudia LaBianca. All have developed their perspectives throughout South Florida and work in a variety of media, including boldly painted murals in public spaces. Their designs can be viewed online at mymiamigrill.com/wynwood.
“It’s inspiring to see the artwork created for local art festivals, and we’re proud to once again help make it happen through our partnership with the art collective,” said Jonathan H. Vogel, CEO of Miami Grill. “Celebrating the vibrant spirit of our hometown and paying homage to the people who live here has always been the foundation of our restaurants. Our goal is to bring the community together to enjoy the many flavors of Miami, as well as its energy and attitude.”
The collectible cups are available for $2.49 with purchase of meal deal or $2.99 if sold separately while supplies last. Guests can get a beverage refill for 99 cents when they bring back their collectible cup.
About the Artists:
Grabster
Born in Brazil and raised in New York, Grabster developed his artistic talent in South Florida. He pulls inspiration from decades of independent study and his eclectic upbringing to create colorful, dynamic and skillful works. His technical expertise is a facet of his work, evident in his geometric and precise designs built to any scale. His work is recognized for its retro-futuristic elements, abstract geometry and tropical color schemes and can be found across the globe. Always one to draw inspiration from his natural surroundings, Grabster enjoys splitting his time between South Florida and Detroit, Michigan.
Didi
Peru native Diana “Didi” Contreras has established herself as a prolific Miami-based visual artist, from painting murals in the urban art scene to exhibiting canvas pieces in galleries. Her work has been shown in exhibitions and private collections throughout the world. Contreras’ primary medium is oil, but she enjoys experimenting with anything she can get her hands on. Didi’s work embodies femininity and always sets her characters in whimsical portraitures. Her distinct style emerges from her love of classical techniques infused with her passion for illustrations and street murals.
Ripes
Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, Ripes brings many influences to his art, from cartoons he watched growing up to the art and graffiti he saw in this area throughout the years. His style Is defined by harsh contrasts but he is constantly evolving, applying more dimension with every new trick learned along the way. Although entirely self-taught, Ripes has had many of South Florida’s best mural artists and graffiti writers pass down tips and endless knowledge. The only message he offers is to “just have fun. If you’re not having fun doing what you’re doing, why are you doing it?”
Claudia LaBianca
Claudia developed her intense passion for painting while growing up in Sicily, painting her fantastical world on anything she could access. Her experience in Sicily propels her into Miami’s saturated street art scene, where her murals flourish around every corner. Some 30 feet tall, her portrayals of incredibly sexy and confident women express her philosophy of empowerment and strong ambition. Claudia has shown her work at Burning Man, and she gained international attention in 2020 with her 104-foot-tall mural at Jackson Memorial Hospital honoring healthcare workers.
