JUANES releases “Cuando estamos tú y yo” (‘When It’s Just You and Me’) – a second single from his upcoming and eagerly awaited 12th album.
The song continues a new creative cycle that sees JUANES returning to his heartfelt lyrical focus on the way many facets of love are the driving force in our life – fused with a guitar driven pop/rock sound, with especially catchy singalong melodies and completely contemporary production.
“Cuando estamos tú y yo” is a joyous and instantly uplifting story of love-at-first-sight, with lyrics, “Like a shot straight to the heart / I saw you arrive and I was left dying / I fell into your eyes and lost my mind”, that you immediately hope will become an eternity, “Wake up with me for the rest of my days / The world hasn’t seen what happens yet /When it’s you and me.”
Additionally, like his recent virally embraced first album single «Una Noche Contigo», which has now surged into the Latin Pop Airplay Top-20 and still rising, “Cuando estamos tú y yo” is the result of JUANES finding inspiration from legendary songwriters of the past:
“I was inspired by how the Beatles would often begin songwriting with the chorus and the song title in the first verse. With that idea, I went home and had a session with some friends known as Majestik; [a Colombian production/composition trio made up by Ily Wonder + Los Jaycobz]. Four hours later, we had this song and it was magical. It is a joy to play live, and I am very excited about this moment when I can share it with the world.” – JUANES
With that excitement in mind, JUANES decided to give a live concert premiere of “Cuando estamos tú y yo” during a recent very special headline return to the world renowned Hollywood Bowl, part of a very limited run of summer performances at favorite U.S. venues also including Wolftrap in Washington and the Ravinia in Chicago. Unveiling the song to a packed house at the iconic venue became one of the highlights of the night at a show that saw JUANES praised for bringing love and uplifting unity to the Los Angeles Latino community.
Now, with today’s global release of “Cuando estamos tú y yo” across all major DSP’s, JUANES also simultaneously releases a corresponding music video once again helmed by standout young Colombian American video director STILLZ, Cannes Lion Winner who has worked with Bad Bunny, Rosalía, and more.
The video captures the euphoric, paradise found, feeling of new love discovery, with JUANES playing his distinctive, Luna White Signature Fender at the surf’s edge of a sunset lit beach. Also like «Una Noche Contigo,» today’s song release features cover art, completely drawn by JUANES himself, as part of a continuing creative direction he has designed in tandem with Sebastián Londoño and Juan Camilo Londoño.
