Whispers Of The Future
On February 1, the Miami Symphony Orchestra presents Latin American Soundscapes at the Knight Concert Hall of the Adrienne Arsht Center—a powerful musical journey inspired by the sounds that define Latin America.
The upcoming concert unfolds under a concept born from emotion, maturity, and hope.
Whispers Of The Future reflects a moment in time that does not shout or impose, but gently accompanies—allowing the music to speak for itself, opening the door to unexpected moments and many more surprises to come throughout the evening.
Led by Maestro Eduardo Marturet, the evening draws inspiration from the resilience, imagination, and inner liberty that characterize Latin American culture. These soundscapes, shaped by rhythm, memory, and identity, transcend borders and affirm the enduring human desire to express oneself freely.
The maestro`s composition “Memorias de Un Bravo Pueblo” (Memories of a brave country) is his version of the Venezuelan anthem which he will perform himself on the piano. As many friends state: “It is so very sad, but at the same time so beautiful, not only connecting the heart of the audience but also putting everybody to tears. “
Adding a powerful human voice to this musical narrative, the concert features vocalists Lena Burke and Eduardo Aguirre from “The Tenors”, whose expressive interpretations bring lyric intimacy, emotional depth, and storytelling to the symphonic experience.
At the heart of the program is electric bass virtuoso Rodner Padilla, a five-time Latin Grammy Award winner, whose concerto brings contemporary energy and bold expression to the symphonic stage.
- In a special highlight, the third movement features Venezuela’s celebrated ensemble C4 Trío as special guests, joining Padilla and the orchestra in a vibrant fusion that celebrates collective voice, rhythmic freedom, and cultural pride.
The program further showcases acclaimed young pianist Juan Diego Molina and bridges tradition with renewal through powerful works: Jarro Mocho, a U.S. premiere by Federico Vollmer newly arranged by Maestro Marturet.
The world premiere of Rosa Prima by Dr. Santiago Bonora is a work for symphony orchestra, the instrument theremin and a living rose transformed into an instrument. The piece unfolds as a cycle of listening, beginning and ending with electronic sound generated by the rose own micro-electrical variations.
Performed with a live theremin on stage by the doctor himself and together with actress, singer and Miso Ambassador Athina Marturet they will make the roses sing. Rosa Prima turns a living rose into sound, proposing music as an act of listening, coexistence, and whispering transformation. We will witness an amazing beautiful performance with real roses and the queen of roses, La “rosa prima”
Athina, together with Dr. Bonora will literally turn a living rose into sound, proposing music as an act of listening, coexistence, and transformation into a whisper.
The concert closes with the Mexican iconic Danzón No. 2 by Arturo Márquez, a timeless emblem of Latin American musical identity.
Whispers Of The Future is more than a concert—it is a shared moment of reflection and uplift, shaped by the sounds that define Latin America and the promise of what lies ahead for the whole world.
