Take Your Child to the Library Day, the annual celebration that invites families to engage with all their local library has to offer, has launched its registration page for the February 7, 2026 nationwide celebration at takeyourchildtothelibrary.org. Families can also visit this site to view a map of participating libraries. 650 libraries have already signed up to participate, representing 49 US states and Canada, and registration continues to grow.
This day is dedicated to encouraging families to visit public libraries. Each year, hundreds of libraries across the United States and Canada take part in this initiative, and participation has grown steadily.
An initiative of the Connecticut Library Consortium, now in its 15th year, this annual event offers an excellent opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn more about their local library. Since 2024, Every Library has served as a national organizational partner for Take Your Child to the Library Day, promoting the importance of libraries for families. Libraries help families build solid foundations in literacy and a love of learning by providing access to books, early literacy storytimes, technology, homework help, online resources, fun, and safe spaces, among other benefits. Through this partnership, we aim to help spread the word about Take Your Child to the Library Day and encourage libraries and families to participate.
In 2026, the event will take place on February 7. To view the list of all 2026 participating libraries, visit takeyourchildtothelibrary.org. Follow Take Your Child to the Library Day 2026 on social media with the tag #takeyourchildtothelibraryday.
