Los Angeles-based actor and artist T.J. Wilkins has released a soulful soundtrack for a summer romance with his single” Picture Us.” The song is from his forthcoming album, Yesterday, Today, and Forever, which will be released on October 11.

The song started as a dream. Co-writer and Lyric House CEO Jessica Cole woke up in the middle of the night from a dream she had, where Wilkins was singing what would become “Picture Us” and whispered the lyrics & melody into the voice memos on her phone. Cole brought the song to her frequent collaborator producer and co-writer Cat Lewis and immediately jumped into a session with Wilkins to bring the song to life. They were all so inspired the song was written within 30 mins.

“‘Picture Us’ is a quintessential love story, tailor-made for a love-filled summer, but perfect for every season,” says Cole. “The lyrics are reminiscent of a classic storybook love, summer romance, and Hollywood movie nostalgia. The song illustrates the thrill of a brand new fling and emanates the joy and soul that dreams are made of.”

“Picture Us” is the second single from Wilkin’s forthcoming album Yesterday, Today and Forever, which is a love letter to soul music. According to Wilkins “The album’s name is not just showcasing soul music but is the soul of the music.”  The Yesterday is the sonics from the mixing to the instruments and vocal choices reminiscent of the past.  Today is the stories being told in the songs, the lyrical content, and the fresh take on the sound of yesterday. The Forever is the timelessness of the music. It speaks to the young and the young at heart. The album contains a representative of every era of soul music.

The world got first to know and love T.J. as a Top 12 contestant and fan-favorite member of Team Usher on Season 6 of NBC’s The Voice. “Picture Us” is the second single off his forthcoming album Yesterday, Today, Forever, due on October 11.

In addition to the Voice, T.J.  has shared the stage with artists such as Stevie Wonder, The Jackson’s, John Legend, Michael Bublé, and Beyoncé and was nominated for a Grammy for the song “Spirit” from The Lion King. As an actor, he has been featured on television and Film, most notably in Walt Disney’s High School Musical franchise, and can currently be seen leading the hit stage musical “44” as President Barack Obama.
