NEW ORLEANS

Felix’s presents Mayfield’s 208 Bourbon St., a first-of-its-kind music and culinary destination located at 208 Bourbon Street, today announced its official grand opening on Monday, December 1.

Positioned inside the historic Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar in the restaurant’s second-floor Balcony Room, the venue will offer an unparalleled blend of live music, chef-inspired dishes, and artistic authenticity, making it the only all-ages, musician-operated live music venue on Bourbon Street.

Founded by two-time Grammy Award-winning musician Irvin Mayfield, in partnership with businessman and restaurateur Danny Conwill, owner of Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar, Mayfield’s 208 was created in order to return cultural ownership to the musicians who help define the city’s sound.

“This venue represents the soul of New Orleans—artist-operated, culture-led, and rooted in the traditions that shaped our city,” said Irvin Mayfield, Founder and Creative Director of Mayfield’s 208. “I was thrilled when Danny approached us with the strong vision to create a home where our artists and creative community can thrive.”

The venue’s Artists in Residence include an unmatched lineup of New Orleans living legends, many of whom have shaped and led some of the city’s most iconic music venues and traditions:

• Kermit Ruffins (Founder of the Rebirth Brass Band)

• Cyril Neville (Lifetime Grammy Achievement Award Winner)

• Gerald French, leader of the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band (115+ years of continuous performance

• With other notable and upcoming Artists in Residence including Jason Marsalis, Glen David Andrews, & Rockin Dopsie Jr.

“Irvin and I are both passionate about the rich cultural heritage of New Orleans, and there are no better traditions than our food and our music,” said partner Danny Conwill. “Partnering with Irvin to bring a venue that’s dedicated to our city’s musicians to Bourbon Street and pairs food with music, it is a natural extension of our commitment to our great city. The spirit of Mayfield’s is about honoring heritage while creating something enduring for locals and visitors alike.”

In addition to live performances, the venue will feature culinary experiences designed by Felix’s for musicians themselves, including Kermit Ruffins’ famous red beans, Cyril Neville’s favorite Felix’s oyster dishes, and Irvin Mayfield’s take on Felix’s Gumbo Yaya (and his famous chocolate chip cookies). “New Orleans has been waiting for a place like this, where the musicians are at the center and the culture is real,” said Kermit Ruffins, one of Mayfield’s Artists in Residence. “I can’t wait to cook, play, and welcome people to a place that feels like home.”

Mayfield’s 208 is currently open for business with its full suite of Monday through Wednesday programming.

Beginning Monday, December 1, the venue will launch its seven-day-a-week calendar, including Irvin Mayfield’s Creole Jazz Brunch every Sunday, which will feature a rotation of special guests like Kermit Ruffins and other resident musicians.

  • Programming will expand to include emerging artists, curated musical experiences, and signature “Date Night” events showcasing the venue’s intimate ambiance and culinary pairings.
