Carlos Vives Premieres Video Tribute To Johnny Ventura

“Buscando Al Caballo”

by Soraya Alcalá

Colombian idol Carlos Vives premieres the video for his tribute to Dominican merengue maestro Johnny Ventura, “Buscando al Caballo,” in collaboration with Johnny’s son, Jandy Ventura and beloved Milly Quezada. He performed the track last night at the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame’s 2022 La Musa Awards, where he also presented his long-time manager, Walter Kolm, with the “Founders Award.”

The song, which is part of Vives’ exploration of Cumbiana II, came about when Vives was collaborating on a song with Ventura, who passed away suddenly in 2021. His son Jandy sings on the recording, becoming a tribute to his pioneering music and the connection between merengue and vallenato. Legendary merengue star Milly Quezada brings her signature saucy to this street celebration theme.

Tomorrow, October 15th, Vives is set to end his successful tour “Después de Todo… Vives,” with a concert at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum of Puerto Rico, after countless SOLD OUT and unforgettable moments. In this long-awaited concert, Vives will have Pedro Capó as a special guest, and together with Loud and Live, they will donate a significant percentage of the profits from this concert in support of the Techos pa’ mi gente foundation. The organization welcomes the support of the Colombian artist in order to help the well-being of the population most affected by the ravages of Hurricane Fiona in Puerto Rico.
