Neal McDonough, Sean Astin, Kristoffer Polaha, Rose Reid Onboard THE SHIFT With Writer/Director Brock Heasley as Filming Begins in Birmingham, Alabama
Angel Studios—the studio behind the hit streaming series The Chosen—is announcing its first original theatrical film, THE SHIFT, has set sail in Birmingham with Neal McDonough (MINORITY REPORT, Yellowstone), Sean Astin (Stranger Things, THE LORD OF THE RINGS), Kristoffer Polaha (WONDER WOMAN 1984, Mad Men), and Rose Reid (FINDING YOU) with writer/director Brock Heasley for producer Ken Carpenter’s Nook Lane Entertainment.
Previously announced cast includes John Billingsley (Star Trek: Enterprise, EMILY THE CRIMINAL), Jason Marsden (Boy Meets World), Nolan North (UNCHARTED), and Emily Rose (HAVEN), along with Liz Tabish, Paras Patel, and Jordan Walker Ross from The Chosen, the crowdfunded streaming series from Angel Studios. THE SHIFT will be the first original theatrical release from Angel.
“The rich textures of Birmingham provide the perfect canvas on which to tell this story”, said writer/director Brock Heasley. “It’s a story about a guy’s (Polaha) harrowing journey through the multiverse back to what matters most to him (Tabish), and the formidable adversary he battles at every turn (McDonough).”
“Brock has written a tight script that ushers us into a fascinating world, with well-drawn characters. He’s got a strong vision for this picture, and we’re very happy with the ensemble of talent that the story has attracted,” said producer Ken Carpenter.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Ken, Brock, and their great team back to Alabama”, said Kathy Faulk, head of the Alabama Film Office. “This sort of strong indie production fits perfectly with our state’s growing film industry.”
McDonough is repped by Matt Luber at Luber Roklin; Astin is also with Luber and Jay Schachter at Stewart Talent; Polaha is repped by Paul Rosicker at Gersh and Sally Ware at Industry Entertainment; Reid is with Robert Haas at Innovative Artists; Heasley, Carpenter, and the film were repped by Roger Goff at Goff Law.
