A Powerful True Story of Holocaust Survival Told for the Next Generation
A Time to Hide tells one story of Holocaust survival told through personal testimony, historical photographs, and evocative new illustrations.
This spring a new book for children will be published. A Time to Hide by Marion Seidemann Fredman (The Collective Book Studio/March 2026) is an extraordinary book based on a true story of love, loss, and resilience during one of history’s darkest chapters. Geared toward readers aged 9-12, but appropriate for all ages to learn about World War II and the Holocaust.
Through a blend of historical documents, family photos, a collage of paintings and illustrations including newly commissioned illustrations by acclaimed artist Elisa Kleven, A Time to Hide makes history accessible to young readers while preserving the emotional truth of one family’s courage and humanity.
Fredman, born while her parents were in hiding during the Holocaust, tells her family’s stories she grew up hearing.
When Grete and Julius fled Nazi Germany, they never imagined they would spend years hidden in a Dutch attic. During that time, their daughter Marion was born—a moment of hope and light amid unimaginable danger. Now, decades later, Marion shares her family’s remarkable story.
A Time to Hide is a vital Holocaust story that honors memory, teaches history, and helps ensure the next generation understands and remembers this powerful legacy of survival.
