(Washington, 01.13.2020).- The Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United States, Carlos Vecchio, endorsed the sanctions issued on Monday by the U.S. Treasury Department against Congressmen Luis Parra, Franklyn Duarte, José Brito, Negal Morales, José Noriega, Conrado Pérez and Adolfo Superlano, whom he called “traitors to democracy in Venezuela.”

“These deputies, sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury, are traitors to democracy in Venezuela and sellouts of Maduro’s dictatorship. They staged a failed assault on Parliament and unsuccessfully attempted to undermine the fight for freedom that we are giving millions of Venezuelans,” said the ambassador.

Vecchio has been insistent in pointing out that “those who lend themselves to the regime’s maneuvers and betray the Venezuelan people will face pressure from the international community and all allies of the interim government of President Juan Guaidó in this fight for the end of the usurpation, the end of the dictatorship and a free Venezuela.

Vecchio stressed that “although it is true that these seven officials sanctioned today by the United States were bought by the dirty money of the corrupt Maduro dictatorship, more than 100 deputies of the legitimate National Assembly, counting those who physically voted for the re-election of Juan Guaidó and those who are detained by the regime or in forced exile, have honored their patriotic commitment to the humanitarian and freedom cause of millions of Venezuelans. These seven deputies were specifically trying to lift the sanctions that the United States and other allies have imposed against those who support the Venezuelan regime.

The ambassador reaffirmed that “in Venezuela there is only one legitimate National Assembly, one legitimate Board of Directors and one legitimate Interim President of Venezuela: Juan Guaidó, as recognized by the Venezuelan people and the free world.”

He thanked the lasting support of President Donald Trump’s administration and the U.S. Congress to force out Maduro and establish a free Venezuela.
