The Black Eyed Peas Release “Big Love” To Protest Family Separation and Gun Violence Crises

The Black Eyed Peas – BIG LOVE

The Black Eyed Peas released music videos for its song “Big Love” that protest the Trump Administration’s cruel and inhumane family separation policy and the ongoing gun violence crisis that have killed, traumatized and torn children from their families.

Proceeds from the song will benefit the Families Belong Together Coalition leading the fight against the Trump Administration’s cruel immigration policies, and the March for Our Lives student-activist movement dedicated to ending the mass shooting epidemic.

Months past a federal court-ordered deadline to reunify families, the Trump Administration is still holding hundreds of the children they forcibly separated from their parents in federal detention, including children under 5 years old. Despite claiming an end to its family separation policy, the Administration has deported hundreds of these children’s parents without them, and announced new rules to eliminate human rights protections for immigrant children and and keep children and families imprisoned indefinitely, defying the Flores Agreement.

With the release of “Big Love,” the Black Eyed Peas join a cadre of leading artists lending their voices in protest at this critical moment, following Lin-Manuel Miranda, John Legend, America Ferrera and others during the historic Families Belong Together national day of action in June. In August, musician Logic joined Coalition leaders and their children on stage at the MTV’s 2018 Video Music Awards in a moving performance of his song “One Day” that protests the Trump Administration’s family separation policy.

“‘Big Love’ is a powerful representation of this moment of unity, where people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs are joining together and speaking out for children and for a country that lives up to American ideals.”

These issues loom large for voters less than two months before the midterm congressional elections. “Big Love” calls on Americans to use the power of their vote to support candidates who promote compassion over cruelty.
